Playfire Chat: The 31st Golden Joystick Awards

It’s that time of the year again – the time when the year’s best, greatest and most brilliant games get the wondrous warmth of celebration they deserve at the prestigious  Golden Joystick awards.

Developers and publishers slave over their games all year round to give you the most incredible, intuitive and revolutionary experiences, from shooters to racers, role-playing games to the obscure, the whacky and the wonderful. The Golden Joysticks is where all of that pays off in the form of a shiny, sexy statuette, and industry-wide congratulations for the best talent around.

It’s been a great year so far, with an uncharacteristic amount of top quality games in the first half of 2013. The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite have both been complete classics, while others like Tomb Raider and DmC have been great surprises. Oh, and there’s a little known game called Grand Theft Auto V releasing in under 2 weeks time. Anyone heard of that one? It’s been under our radar so far.

On top of all of that, we’ve got a phenomenal amount of news and excitement surrounding next-gen. E3 and Gamescom were full of juicy information. Xbox One and PS4 are set for brilliance, with launch games like Forza 5, Killzone Shadow Fall, Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV, while games like Destiny, Titanfall and The Witcher 3 are displaying the true capabilities of next-gen gaming.

2013 is a wonderful time to be a gamer, then, but we want to know what has been your highlight of the year so far, and why does that game deserve a Golden Joystick? It can be anything, from a particular game overall, to a very specific moment while playing a game that made you fall in love with it.

Let us know, let us feel your excitement, because we’re buzzing off the walls for everything that's come out and is coming out over the next few months.
